No: 73, 15 March 2018, Press Release Regarding Astana Foreign Ministers Meeting On Syria
Foreign Ministers of Turkey, the Russian Federation and Iran, the guarantors of the Astana platform which was initiated to de-escalate the tension in Syria and pave the way for the political process, will gather in a meeting hosted by Kazakhstan in Astana on 16 March 2018. H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, will visit Astana on 15-16 March 2018 to attend the meeting.
The meeting will be a stocktaking exercise about the cooperation and developments recorded in the first year of Astana meetings, and address joint steps that could be taken jointly in the upcoming period to accelerate the process of finding a solution to the Syrian conflict.
The preparations for the Trilateral Summit to be hosted by H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey, in İstanbul on 4 April 2018 with the participation of Russian and Iranian Presidents, will also be discussed during the meeting.
